Oil Painting & Multimedia Class Tuition includes 4 weeks of 2-hour sessions on Saturday mornings. Classes will be held in the historic Armory building (49 S Sharpsville Avenue in downtown Sharon). All supplies are provided, cost is already included in the tuition. Small class sizes allow you to receive more personalized attention during the sessions! Class sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11 am. If you miss a class, you can make it up at a later date to ensure you get your full 4 weeks!
Class subject matter will rotate regularly between Portraiture, Still Life, and Plein Air sessions. Bobbie is also expanding from working with primarily oils to include other mediums, per student request.
Contemporary Still Life
The term “still life” describes a work of art that shows inanimate objects from the natural or man-made world, such as fruit, flowers, dead game, and/or vessels like baskets or bowls. The possibilities are endless!
Portraiture is the recording of an individual's appearance and personality through paint, photography, or any other medium. Portrait painting is challenging but rewarding undertaking, and is Bobbie's specialty!
Plein-air painting, in its strictest sense, is the practice of painting landscape scenes out-of-doors to capture an intense impression of the open air in the painting. In French, en plein air literally means "in the outdoors."
We are also open to holding classes at additional days/times based on demand. Private lessons are also available by request.
Meet the Teacher
Contemporary Portrait & Figurative Artist
“Creating art is exciting, challenging and embraces all possibility...”
A figurative artist working primarily in oil, I paint every day, with the end goal of creating an interesting, meaningful piece of art. I have spent a lifetime making art in various mediums but oil on canvas is the perfect combination of flexibility and depth of color allowing creation of greater richness of color as well as a wide range of tonal transitions and shades. The fluidity of oil in a paintbrush suits my loose style perfectly and the subject’s mood or demeanor compels me to paint. As an art teacher, Bobbie is always open to exploring other mediums of interest to her students.
